What Is Flap Disc?
A flap is an abrasive product designed for right angle grinding machine applications consisting of overlapping abrasive "flaps" that are radially glued to the backplate. Flaps discs became popular for benefits such as rapid demolding and the ability to perform grinding, mixing, and finishing in one product.
Many flap discs remove up to many times the material with fewer workpiece grooves than standard grinding wheels. They are also easier to control, resulting in better workpiece quality and fewer replacements. There is no need to replace grinding wheels, and the user experiences less downtime, less varnishing, loading and workpiece discoloration. In addition to their ease of use, flap discs are also the operator's first choice because they generate lower vibration and noise levels.
