Diamond saw blades are made by bonding diamond grit to the steel body of the saw blade, resulting in a harder, stronger saw blade, and they are generally used to cut through the toughest materials. Of course, there will be some problems with the use of diamond blades. Today we will introduce some maintenance tips for diamond blades.
1. Loss of tension
Diamond blades don't stay straight when running
Cause 1: The diamond blade is misaligned.
Solution: Check the alignment of the diamond blades.
Reason 2: The diamond blade is too hard for the material being cut, creating stress in the center of the steel.
Solution: Carefully check whether the diamond blade is suitable for cutting the material. If not, choose a new diamond blade.
Reason 3: The diameter of the flange of the diamond blade is different, resulting in uneven central pressure.
Solution: Confirm the correct diamond blade diameter.
Reason 4: Wrong RPM
Solution: Use a tachometer to ensure the diamond blade shaft is turning at the correct RPM for the diamond blade.
2. The arbor hole is not round
The arbor hole is stretched so it's not round
Reason 1: Improper installation of the diamond blade leads to severe wear of the saw rod.
Solution: Before tightening the flange, make sure the diamond blade is properly seated on the shoulder.
Reason 2: The diamond blade flange is not tightened properly, preventing the diamond blade from rotating on the shaft.
Solution: Always tighten the arbor nut with a wrench, remember never to tighten the nut by hand.
Reason 3: The diamond blade flange or mandrel is worn and cannot provide proper diamond blade support.
Solution: Check the diamond blade flange or arbor shaft for damage or excessive wear. The two flanges should not be lower than the value recommended by the manufacturer. Replace worn parts if worn.
3. Excessive wear
Reason 1: If the diamond is highly exposed, you may be using the wrong diamond blade on the abrasive material.
Solution: Consult the dealer or manufacturer for proper blade specifications for the abrasive.
Reason 2: If the diamond is highly exposed, the diamond blade may lack sufficient coolant.
Solution: If the chainsaw is equipped with a water pump, make sure it is functioning properly. Check the water supply at the diamond blade.
Reason 3: Out of round diamond blade wear will accelerate overall wear. Typically, this can be caused by damaged bearings, worn shafts, or using a diamond blade that is too hard for the material being cut.
Solution: Check the bearings and spindle. If worn, replace it with a new part and install another diamond blade.
There are various problems encountered in the use of diamond blades. Today we introduce some common problems and solutions. In our subsequent articles, we will introduce more maintenance skills about diamond blades.
